Lieutenant Frank Beecher Doran a native of Iroquois, Ontario, Canada, was seconded to the Royal Flying Corps, from the 20th Battalion, Canadian Infantry, on 9 June 1917. He was killed in action 14 August 1917 whilst on artillery observation patrol at Boesinghe, when his aeroplane was shot down by the German fighter ace Wilhelm Reinhard. ‘Willi’ Reinhard went on to take command of the famous Jasta 6 after the death of Manfred Von Richthofen. Doran is buried at Menginghem Military Cemetery, Poperinge, Belgium.
