Brigadier J. G. Nicholson was awarded the C.B.E. for his outstanding work as the British Brigadier in Plans Section of Allied Forces Headquarters which he joined in June 1944. He was an accomplished shot and, in 1928, competed successfully in the Army Championships at Bisley, being one of the ‘Army Hundred’ selected to shoot for the King’s Medal that year.
