Leonard Bramley enlisted for the Buffs at Middlesborough on 30 November 1926. He served in India, October 1928 to November 1930; Burma, November 1930 to October 1931; Andaman Islands, October 1931 to May 1932; and again in Burma, May 1932 to January 1935. He gained his Nursing Orderlies Certificate in October 1929 and during 1934 was Medical Orderly in charge of the Medical Inspection Room at the British Military Hospital, Maymo, Burma.
