Private H. H. Smith was wounded at Driefontein on 10 March 1900, and was again severaly wounded, when serving with the Mounted Infantry, near Reitz, Orange River Colony, on 27 April 1901. He was awarded the Imperial Service Medal London Gazette 19 August 1932, Head Porter, London Postal Service.
