India General Service 1895-1902, 2 clasps, Relief of Chitral 1895, Punjab Frontier 1897-98 (Capt. B. R. K. Tarte, 1st Bn. East Kent Regt.) together with two original Commission documents as Lieutenant, Militia Forces, 3rd & 4th Bns. The South Staffordshire Regiment, dated 17 April 1885, and as Lieutenant in The Buffs, dated 9 November 1886, good very fine £140-180

Bernard Richard Kinneir Tarte was appointed Lieutenant, 3/4 South Staffs Militia, 28 March 1885; Lieutenant, The Buffs, East Kent Regiment, 10 November 1886; Captain, 1 July 1895; Major, 4 August 1902. Major Tarte served throughout the operations of the Chitral Relief Force under Sir Robert Low in 1895, with the 1st Battalion The Buffs, including the engagement at Mangui (Medal with clasp). He served in the campaign on the North West Frontier of India under Sir William Lockhart in 1897-98, with the 1st Battalion The Buffs, with the Malakand Field Force, including operations in Bajour and the Mohmand country with the Utman Khel Column; and with the Buner Field Force, including the attack and capture of the Tanga Pass (Clasp to India Medal).
