Charles Deyman Baillie was appointed Ensign in the Buffs, 6 December 1855; Lieutenant, 5 March 1858; Captain, 1 April 1870; Major, 26 February 1881; Lieutenant Colonel, 1 July 1881. He was one of 30 officers of the Buffs who received the medal for Taku Forts 1860.
