The Buffs (1st Volunteer Battalion), a senior N.C.O’s (?) cap badge, c. 1898-1908, being the usual cap badge with additional scroll inscribed ‘1st Volr Battn’, the reverse of the scroll stamped ‘S.Gil.’, the badge shows evidence of being an other ranks pattern with slider removed and the whole subsequently silver plated, the alterations apparently contemporary with period of use, very good condition £20-30
