A Rare Privately Issued Australian Life Saving Award, in silver, comprising of a central disc, 38mm, obverse inscribed ‘In commemoration of his exertions to save the crew of the Barque Eleanor Lancaster during the storm of the 7th Novr., Newcastle N.S.W. 1856’, reverse inscribed ‘Presented to Alexr. Burgess’, the disc surrounded by an intertwined silver frame, including suspension loop, this representative of a rope knot, contained in a contemporary glazed hinged display box, very fine £180-220
