Case No. 17,177. James H. Clyne, Quarter Master, H.M.S. Severn, attempted to save the life of William Nickton at Trincomalee, on 11th July 1863. Nickton accidentally fell overboard. Clyne jumped overboard but his attempt to rescue failed, as Nickton sank. Bronze Medal (unsuccessful) to Clyne.
