The Order of St. John of Jerusalem, a rare 19th Century badge of a Commander in gold and enamels, 45mm diameter, unmarked, no embellishments in the angles of the arms, small enamel chip to one obverse arm and a larger chip to one reverse arm, otherwise good very fine £250-350
Probably a badge from the period 1871-88 when the use of the Lion and Unicorn embellishments was suspended, their use being restored by the Royal Charter of 1888.
