Brooking Soady was first commissioned in April 1844 and served in the 24th Bengal Native Infantry until transferring to the Bengal Staff Corps in April 1870. He became Major-General in February 1886 and died in 1889, his only war service being with the Transport department during the first campaign of the Afghan War.
