Arthur St. Clair Dillett was born on 9 May 1891. Living in Bedminster, Bristol, he was employed as a Printer. He entered the R.N.V.R. in 1910 and was posted to the Drake Battalion in August 1914. Posted to the Dardanelles, he was admitted to hospital in Alexandria in July 1915 suffering from dysentry. Invalided to Malta and thence to England where he was treated for dysentry at Haslar Hospital. Recovering, he was posted firstly to the Anson and then the Hood Battalion, joining them in September 1916. In hospital at Calais with impetico during December 1916 and treated for septic toes in January 1917. Returning to the front, Dillett was reported ‘Missing’ on 23 April 1917, this was later revised to ‘killed in action’ on that date. With copied service papers.
