John Christie alias John McDonald was born in Alford, Aberdeen. A Farm Servant by occupation, he attested for the Royal Artillery at Aberdeen on 9 June 1888, aged 18 years, 2 months. With the Royal Artillery, he served in Egypt and Sudan, December 1894-March 1905. He was discharged on 8 June 1909. With copied service papers.
