Attributed to 13/564 Private George Lyon, 13th (1st Barnsley) Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment, who was born in and enlisted at Barnsley and who was killed in action on 1 July 1916. One of the ‘Barnsley Pals’ killed on the 1st day of the battle of the Somme. With copied service papers, m.i.c., and other research. Note: there are other servicemen with this name on the C.W.G.C. list.
