Provenance: Found near Slough (Berkshire); C. Rudd FPL 78, November 2004 (63). CCI 04.2177.

The delicate stippling effect evident on both obverse and reverse dies, combined with the unusual quality of the portrayal of the horse, suggest that the present specimen is not part of the normal production run of these Staters. Add to that the voided crescent above the horse and what appears to be a smaller crescent or torc on the horse’s head and this is a coin that combines exceptional quality with outstanding rarity
