Crimea 1854-56, 1 clasp, Sebastopol (T. J. Orton, Asst. Surgeon, R.A.) contemporary engraved namimg, edge bruise and contact marks, otherwise nearly very fine £100-120

Thomas Jerram Orton was appointed Assistant Surgeon in January 1855, and attached to the Royal Artillery in December 1855. He served with the Royal Artillery in the Trenches before Sebastopol in 1855 and at the assault of the Redan on the 8th September (Medal with clasp and Turkish medal). Served with the Central India Field Force under Sir Hugh Rose in 1858, and was present at the siege and capture of the Fort of Chandairee, siege and capture of Jhansi, battle of Betwa, action at Koonch, actions of 17th and 18th May, and of 21st May at Golowlie and capture of Calpee, was afterwards present at various actions in the Bundelkund district (Medal). Accompanied the Perak Expedition as Principal Medical Officer of the force (mentioned in despatches).
