W. Beal, gas fitting manufacturer, Hill street, established 1861; John Bedington, measuring tape manufacturer, 40 Digbeth; William John Davis (1848-1934) of Moseley and John Macmillan (1836-1921) of Edgbaston financed the New Centenary tokens, issued by subscription at 2s. each and which helped publicise the former’s The Token Coinage of Warwickshire (Birmingham, 1895), which was being compiled at the time the tokens made their appearance; William Wellington Greener (1834-1921), son of the gunsmith William Greener (†1869), ‘Rifle hill’, Aston, made his first breechloader rifles under patent in 1864 and established offices in London, Hull, Montreal and New York; Hepworth, proprietor, Midland Woollen Emporium, 41 New street; Samuel Hiron, press manufacturer and diesinker, 52 St Paul’s square, also Dudley and London; Henry Holland, gunsmith, 21 Steelhouse lane; Lisseter, confectioner; M.
