In 1966 the bank merged with the Munster & Leinster Bank and Royal Bank of Ireland to form Allied Irish Banks Ltd. New designs were prepared during the 1970s which included a line under the bank title ‘A Member Bank of Allied Irish Banks Ltd’. The bank title was not formally changed on the notes until January 1982
