Thomas Mooney, one of the founders of the Agricultural & Commercial Bank of Ireland, appears to have been a prime mover behind this bank, which opened for business in July 1837. The design of the recorded notes is very similar to that of the Provincial Bank of Ireland and carries the date March 1837, some four months before the bank opened its doors for business. It failed in 1840
