A C.B.E., Order of St. John group of seven awarded to Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel L. N. Robinson, British Red Cross Society and Order of St. John of Jerusalem

The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, C.B.E. (Military) Commander’s 1st type neck badge, silver-gilt and enamel, with neck cravat; The Order of St. John of Jerusalem, Knight of Grace set of insignia, neck badge, 52 x 52mm. and breast star, 56 x 56mm., silver and enamel, with neck cravat, in Carrington, London case of issue; 1914 Star (Lt. Col., B.R.C.S. & O. St. J.J.); British War and Victory Medals, M.I.D. oak leaf (Lt. Col.); France, Legion of Honour, 5th Class breast badge, silver, silver-gilt and enamel, with rosette on ribbon, minor enamel damage; Egypt, Order of the Nile, 3rd Class neck badge by Lattes, silver, silver-gilt and enamel, with neck cravat, good very fine and better (8) £600-650

Leonard Nicholas Robinson was born on 24 November 1869, the son of Samuel Henry Robinson of Howrah, Bengal. Educated at Malvern College, he gained qualifications as a physician at the University of Edinburgh - M.B., C.M. 1893, M.D. 1898, and at Paris - M.D. 1899. He was Physician at the Hertford British Hospital, Paris, 1900; later appointed senior Physician, he served 25 years at the hospital. He was a Senior Member Egyptian Civil Service, Medical Board for France, 1908 and President of the Paris Branch of the British Red Cross Society, 1914. During the Great War he served as an Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel in the R.A.M.C. and was mentioned in despatches. Robinson was awarded the C.B.E. in 1920 and in 1922 was appointed President of the Paris Branch of the Overseas League. Also awarded the Order of St. John, Knight of Grace, Legion of Honour and Order of the Nile. He died on 15 March 1955. Sold with copied research.
