Pair: Lieutenant O. A. Peters, Royal Air Force, late Royal Flying Corps

British War and Victory Medals (Lieut., R.A.F.), mounted as worn, good very fine (2) £80-100

Oswald Andrew Peters was born in August 1897 and was originally commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 2nd Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment. Transferring to the Royal Flying Corps in September 1917, he graduated from the School of Aviation at Hythe in October 1917, and was attached to Experimental Air Station, Orfordness, Suffolk ‘for a special course of bombing’ (his service record refers). But in February 1918, he was embarked for Egypt, where he joined 38 Training Wing and was hospitalised from December 1918 until February 1919, possibly as a result of a flying accident. Brief service followed in 3 and 206 Squadrons prior to him being embarked for the U.K. at Port Said in early 1920, soon after which he was placed on the Unemployed List.
