Three: Private G. Brown, King’s Royal Rifle Corps

George Brown was born in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. A Brewers Labourer by occupation, he attested for the King’s Royal Rifle Corps at London on 13 March 1893. With the 3rd Battalion he served at home and was transferred to the Army Reserve on 31 July 1898. He was recalled to Army Service in October 1899 and with the 3rd Battalion served in South Africa, 4 November 1899-25 September 1902. He was re-transferred to the Army Reserve in June 1903 and discharged in March 1905. He was appointed a Police Constable in “E” (Holborn) Division of the Metropolitan Police in August 1898. He returned to the Police Force after his second period of Army service and was awarded the Coronation Medal in 1911. Sold with copied attestation papers and other research.
