Royal Company of Archers, a fine selection of seven buttons covering the period c1785-1902 the first very large example is engraved with a crossed bow and a case of arrows under the crown and thistle sprays at the base back mark ‘S.Firmin Strand’, the second type with a finely raised design shows the crown of Scotland over a strap, ‘King’s Body Guard’ crossed arrows in the centre thistles sprays at the base and ‘Royal Archers’ around the edge, back mark, ‘John Johnston Edinburgh’, the third with raised design shows a central thistle style star with the crown in the centre, around the edge, ‘King’s Body Guard RCA’, back mark, ‘Sclater & Son Edinburgh’; the last four are the more familiar mounted patterns for WIVR back mark G&W Boggett St Martins Lane London, VR with and without rims, back marks P&S Firmin 153 Strand London & G&W Boggett & Co. St Martins Lane and finally a post 1902 pattern KC back mark ‘Firmin London’; together with a modern QEC sash badge in die-stamped copper gilt, no provision for enamel backing, very good condition (8)
