Afghanistan 1878-80, no clasp (1509 Pte. W. Heywood, 2/60th Foot) suspension refixed but slack, slight contact marks, good very fine £80-100

William Henry Heywood was born in Wrexham, Denbighshire in June 1845. He enlisted into the 60th Rifles at Westminster on 23 July 1867. Serving with the 2nd Battalion, he was posted to India in 1867. With them he served in the Afghan War during 1878-79. Returning then to England, he was discharged as a Lance-Corporal on 8 June 1880. At the time of his discharge he was in possession of three Good Conduct Badges. The Afghan Medal was his only medallic award. He died in March 1904. Sold with copied research.
