Godfrey Lionel Law Lushington was born in 1894 and educated at Wellington College and Wye Agricultural College. He was commissioned into the 5th (The Weald of Kent) Battalion The Buffs (East Kent Regiment) on 9 September 1914. On 7 December 1914 he was appointed a Temporary Lieutenant and on 1 June 1915. a Temporary Captain. Lushington was promoted to Lieutenant on 14 July 1916 and relinquished his rank of Temporary Captain in May 1917. After later service with a Reserve T.F. Battalion and the 1st Battalion, Lushington resigned his commission on 23 April 1921, being granted the rank of Captain. After the Great War Lushington moved to Ceylon and became a Planter. After service in the ranks of the Ceylon Planters Rifle Corps, he was granted a Commission as a 2nd Lieutenant on 27 August 1929. As a Rifleman, he was awarded the Colonial Auxiliary Force Long Service Medal by the Ceylon Government Gazette of 9 April 1927. He was promoted to Lieutenant on 27 February 1932 and Captain on 4 October 1935. He was awarded the Efficiency Decoration (Ceylon), being published in the Ceylon Government Gazette of 3 December 1937. Lushington was later promoted to Major in the C.P.R.C. and was subsequently promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel c.1947-49. Sold with several riband bars and copied research.
