Co Carlow, Carlow, County Carlow Agricultural Society, 1869, a bronze award medal by J. Jones, legend in wreath, rev. wreath, named (1st Class, 2nd Best Collection of Fowl, Sir J.R. Wolseley, Bt, Mount Wolseley), 42mm. About extremely fine, very rare (£50-70)

Sir John Richard Wolseley, 6th Bt, JP, DL (1834-74), Mount Wolseley, near Tullow; appointed ensign in the 18th Royal Irish Regt in 1854, he served as a lieutenant in that regiment in the Crimea from December 1854 and was at the siege and fall of Sebastopol (medal and clasp). The father of four daughters, the baronetcy passed to his brother Clement in June 1874; the family home, now part of the Hilton Hotels group, is today a spa and country club
