Five: Sergeant A. A. Moran, Royal Ulster Rifles, late 18th Battalion London Regiment

1939-45 Star; Africa Star; Italy Star; Defence and War Medals, unnamed as issued, mounted as worn, good very fine (5) £60-80

Albert Archdale Moran was born on 9 April 1911. He served in the Royal Ulster Rifles (18th London Regiment), February 1928-February 1937. Re-enlisted into the Royal Ulster Rifles (London Irish) in November 1940. As a Rifleman in the Pioneer Platoon, 2nd Battalion, he was wounded in Italy on 21 May 1944. He was transferred to the Army Reserve in April 1946.

Sold with a wealth of associated material, including: Soldier’s Service and Pay Book (2); Discharge Certificate 1937; Attestation Paper 1940; Soldier’s Release Book 1946; Certificate of Transfer to the Reserve 1946; Diary 1943, with typed extracts; booklet: Songs of the Irish Brigade; papers re. Corps of Commissionaires; sundry photographs; Pewter Tankard, inscribed, ‘“Bert” on the occasion of your retirement with grateful thanks from your friends in Seagram Europe July 1984’.
