Military Order of the Dragon, China 1900 (Charles Henry Selwyn. No. 1348) lacking Pagoda top suspension and ribbon, light contact marks, otherwise very fine and better (3) £1200-1500

Charles Henry Selwyn was born on 1 March 1863, and was first commissioned into the Connaught Rangers on 25 August 1883. He was appointed to the Indian Army in December 1886 and saw service during the campaign in Burma 1886-87 (Medal with Clasp). He served with the 11th Bengal Lancers (Probyn’s Horse) at the Relief of Chitral in 1895 (Medal with Clasp), and with the 12th Bengal Cavalry at the Relief of Pekin in 1900 (Medal with Clasp). He was promoted to Major in August 1901.
