Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, dated reverse, 1 clasp, Alexandria 11th July (S. L. Earthy, Pte., R.M., H.M.S. Penelope) edge bruising and contact marks, nearly very fine £130-150

Spencer Loxton Earthy was born in Barnet, Middlesex in October 1858, the son of a ‘Retired Inspector of Police’, and enlisted in the Chatham Division of the Royal Marines as a Drummer in February 1872. Appointed a Private in January 1881, he was shortly thereafter embarked in the Penelope (October 1881 to June 1883), and was again present in Egypt as a member of the R.M. Battalions from February to October 1884. Earthy was discharged in November 1897
