Henry Ernest Goodger was born in Canning Town, Essex, and living in Forest Gate, enlisted at St. Paul’s Churchyard, London. Serving with “B” Company, 1st Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 21 April 1915, aged 18 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. He was the son of Henry Jesse and Alice Goodger of 39 Upton Park Road, Forest Gate, London.

Bertie Reginald Goodger, brother of Henry Ernest was a Private in the Royal West Kent Regiment. On attachment to the 1st/20th Battalion London Regiment, he was killed in action on 1 September 1918. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial.
