George Mundy was born and lived in Micheldever, Hampshire and enlisted at Winchester. Serving as a Private with the 1st Battalion Hampshire Regiment, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 12 November 1914. He was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 6 January 1915. He was buried in the Lancashire Cottage Cemetery, Ploegsteert, Hainhault, Belgium.
