Mervyn John Patterson Crooke was born on 6 February 1919. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in June 1938 and was advanced to War Substantive Lieutenant in January 1941; Temporary Captain in May 1943; War Substantive Captain in June 1946 and Temporary Major, June 1946-March 1947. Crooke received a Regular Commission as Captain in November 1946 and attained the rank of Major in February 1953. He retired on 29 September 1960.
