Richard Barnett was born in Shrewsbury on 24 October 1901. He attested for the Royal Berkshire Regiment on 9 September 1920 and transferred to the East Surrey Regiment in February 1934 and thence to the Indian Army Corps of Clerks in March the same year. Promoted Staff Sergeant in March 1937, he was awarded the Army L.S. & G.C. Medal, notified in I.A.O. 255 of March 1939. Whilst in India he took part in operations on the North West Frontier and received for his services the I.G.S. Medal 1908 with clasps for Mohmand 1933 and N.W.F. 1935; additionally he was mentioned in despatches (Gazette of India Extraordinary 8 May 1936). During the Second World War he served in Burma. Appointed a Temporary Sub Conductor on 1 March 1941, he attained the rank of Temporary Major on 1 April 1948. Sold with copied service papers and other research.

Leonard Reginald Warr was born in the Parish of Bemerton, Salisbury, on 15 July 1909. He attested for the Royal Artillery on 3 June 1924, aged 14 years, 324 days. With the Royal Artillery he served in India, November 1925-January 1927, and again in India, from August 1927. He was transferred to the Indian Army Corps of Clerks in October 1935 and was promoted to Staff Sergeant in October 1937. He was advanced to Temporary Sub Conductor in June 1941, a War Substantive Warrant Officer Class 1 (Sub Conductor) in June 1942 and Temporary Conductor in June 1941. During the period 1934-45, Warr was the Master-General of the Ordnance Branch at Delhi, Simla, Jhansi, Pachmashi, Deolali and New Delhi. In October 1944 he was transferred to the Royal Army Service Corps. Warr was awarded the Army L.S. & G.C. Medal, notified in I.A.O. 6/AP of February 1944. Temporary Conductor Warr retired from the Indian Army on 8 June 1947. He continued to serve as a War Substantive Staff Sergeant-Major in the R.A.S.C. until 1952.
