Surg., I.S.M.D.); 1914-15 Star (4 Cl. Asst. Surgn., I.M.D.); British War and Victory Medals (A-Sgn., I.M.D.); 1939-45 Star; Burma Star;War and India Service Medals; Jubilee 1935; Army L.S. & G.C., G.V.R., 2nd issue, fixed suspension (1 Cl. Asst. Surgn., I.M.D.) mounted court style for wear, first two with contact marks, very fine and better (11) £900-1100

Edwin Brook Holt was born on 8 July 1890. On 15 April 1912 Holt was appointed an Assistant Surgeon, 4th Class, I.S.M.D., ranking as Sub-Conductor. Actively engaged in the Great War, he was awarded the D.C.M. for his distinguished services as Assistant Surgeon. Whilst probably serving in Mesopotamia he was captured and made a prisoner-of-war. For his valuable services whilst held prisoner he was subsequently awarded the M.B.E. Holt was specially promoted to Assistant Surgeon 3rd Class, ranking as Sub-Conductor, I.M.D. on 17 April 1918. He was advanced to Assistant Surgeon 2nd Class, ranking as a Conductor, in April 1923, and to 1st Class, in April 1928. At this rank he was awarded the Army L.S. & G.C. Medal in September 1930. During the Second World War, Holt was granted a commission as a Lieutenant (Senior Assistant Surgeon), I.M.D., with seniority of 19 July 1942. In March 1947 he was advanced to Captain, I.M.D., and in September 1947 he attained the rank of Major. Major Holt relinquished his commission on 26 January 1950. Sold with copied research.
