55 George VI Crowned Head M.S.Ms. are believed to have been awarded - issued in error in place of the usual Coinage Head issue - all being notified in A.O. 44 of March and 106 of June, 1942.

Edward Epps was born on 7 May 1867. He enlisted into the Royal Artillery on 7 May 1885. As a Sergeant in the 78th Battaery R.F.A. he served in the Boer War, being awarded the Queen’s Medal with three clasps. As a Battery Sergeant-Major he was awarded the Army L.S. & G.C., notified in Army Order 90 of April 1906. He was discharged on 31 July 1907 and was recommended for the M.S.M. and Annuity on 14 August 1907. In the Great War Epps was appointed a Temporary Quartermaster with the honorary rank of Lieutenant in the Army Veterinary Corps. With them he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 29 September 1915. He was later granted the honorary rank of Captain on 12 January 1918. In this rank he was mentioned in Haig’s despatch of 7 April 1918 (
London Gazette 25 May 1918). Captain Epps was discharged on 2 April 1919. Epps was awarded the Army M.S.M. and Annuity by Army Order 44 of March 1942. Sold with copied research.
