John Joseph Rice was born on 31 January 1910. He joined the South African Division of the R.N.V.R. and was appointed a Probationary Midshipman on 16 July 1930. He was promoted to Sub-Lieutenant in July 1932 and Lieutenant in July 1935. Serving during the War, he was appointed to H.M.S.
Dragon in July 1941 and was seconded to the Royal Navy on 30 November 1942. The same day he was advanced to Acting Lieutenant-Commander. At the end of the war he was accepted for service in the post-war navy. Sold with copied service record and other research.
