Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., E.VII.R. (146316 W. J. Jacobs, Stoker 1 Cl., H.M.S. Amethyst) edge bruising and contact marks, nearly very fine £30-50

William John Jacobs was born in Furmington, Sussex in August 1865 and entered the Royal Navy as a Stoker 2nd Class in August 1888. Advanced to Stoker 1st Class in H.M.S. Amethyst in July 1906, he was awarded his L.S. & G.C. Medal in May of the following year. Having then been pensioned ashore in December 1909, Jacobs was recalled in August 1914 and served at the torpedo establishment Vernon for the remainder of the War. He was invalided in September 1919.
