General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Malaya, E.II.R. (2/Lt. E. D. Pickering, R.A.S.C.) slight official correction to surname, very fine £80-100

Eric Pickering was born in Doncaster on the 2 April 1935 and was educated at Doncaster Grammar School. He applied for a place at R.M.A. Sandhurst in July 1952 and was succesful in passing the Regular Commission Board in May 1953.  After a period of training with No 1 Training Battalion R.A.S.C. he joined Alemein Company of the R.M.A. Sandhurst in September 1953 and was commissioned into the R.A.S.C. on the 29 July 1955. After a short spell again with No 1 Training Battalion, in January 1956 he was posted to Taiping in Malaya to join No. 2 Supply Depot where he qualified for his General Service Medal.
In April 1958 he requested that he be allowed to resign from the Army and this request was granted by the C. in C. FARELF Command, he returned to the UK and was transferred to the Reserve on 12 September 1958. He finally relinquished his commission on the 28 February 1964. Sold with copied service details.
