Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 4 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Defence of Mafeking, Transvaal (4044 Corpl. S. Sth. A. Kelland, 17/Lcrs.) good very fine £1000-1200

Kelland was awarded his “Defence of Mafeking” clasp in respect of services in the Protectorate Regiment. The roll further states ‘Deceased 17.9.01’, while the published casualty roll states that he was killed in action near Tarkastad on the same date - in both cases his number is given as ‘4055’.
