India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, North West Frontier (247 Gunr. A. Stokes, D By. F Bde. R.A.) one or two edge bruises, very fine £140-160

Amos Stokes, who was born in Bedford, originally enlisted in the 48th Regiment in June 1854, aged 19 years, and was quickly embarked for the Crimea where he was present in the operations before Sebastopol. Transferring to the Royal Artillery in May 1860, he was next present in operations on the North West Frontier in D Battery, F Brigade, R.A. (WO 100/20 refers), and was finally discharged in February 1876.
