Sutlej 1845-46, for Moodkee 1845, 3 clasps, Ferozeshuhur, Aliwal, Sobraon (Cornet Hon. C. J. D. Arbuthnot, 5th Regt. L.C.) good very fine £1000-1200

Ex Glens October 1937 in pair with Indian Mutiny named to him as ‘Capt. Commandant, Behar and Shahabad Police’; and Needes Collection, April 1940, the pair split.

Captain Hon C. J. D. Arbuthnot, Invalid Establishment, Commanding at Chunar, late 5th Light Cavalry. Served during the Sutlej campaign 1845-46, prersent at the actions of Moodkee (horse shot under him), Ferozeshuhur, Aliwal, and Sobraon (Medal and 3 clasps). Served during the Mutiny in Shahabad 1858-59, present at the affair at Karesath (charger wounded); Capture of Jugdespore, and pursuit of the rebels to and from the Soane; skirmishes of Mujowlee and Mukoolaon; served under Colonel Seymour at Doomraon, who drove the last party of rebels out of the district (Medal). Mentioned in despatch of Brigadier Douglas, C.B., 27 October 1858, brought to notice of H.E. the Commander-in-Chief, 31 October 1858, and received the thanks of the Lieutenant-Governor of Bengal, 27 October 1858. Promoted to the rank of Captain on the Invalid Establishment for “valuable active service” on 5 November 1859.
