William Brodie was born at Tolbooth, near Edinburgh, and attested there for the 71st Regiment on 18 November 1847. He served during the Indian Mutiny in the campaign in Central India, and in the Umbeyla campaign of 1863. He was discharged on 20 December 1865, and died on 1 December 1897, aged 67. Sold with copy discharge papers.
