Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, 3 clasps, Tel-El-Kebir, The Nile 1884-85, Kirbekan (16903 Sapr. H. J. Hillyer, 26th Co. R.E.) official correction to last three letters of surname, pitting from star, otherwise nearly very fine £250-300

4 officers and 31 other ranks of the Royal Engineers were present at Kirbekan, including 2 officers and 20 other ranks from the 26th Company. Only Captain J. E. Blackburn and Sapper Hillyer were also present at Tel-el-Kebir.

Henry James Hillyer was born at Portsea, Portsmouth, and enlisted for the Royal Engineers at Portsmouth on 2 February 1881, a miner by trade, aged 19 years 3 months. He was transferred to the Army Reserve in November 1887 and discharged on 1 February 1893. Sold with copy discharge papers.
