Approximately 50 Commissariat and Transport Staff and Corps were present at Abu Klea, including 5 officers and 7 conductors of supplies.

Joseph Pritchard was born in Bristol and enlisted into the 4th Hussars on 7 December 1866, a watch maker by trade, aged 19. He served in India from October 1869 to January 1879, became a Sergeant in September 1875 and a Troop Sergeant-Major in January 1879. He was appointed Acting Conductor of Supplies in the Commissariat and Transport Staff in July 1882, and Conductor in the Army Service Corps in December 1888. He retired in the rank of 1st Class Staff Sergeant-Major on 30 September 1894. Sold with copy discharge papers.
