Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, 5 clasps, Tel-El-Kebir, Suakin 1884, El-Teb-Tamaai, The Nile 1884-85, Abu Klea (2178 .... C. Andrews, 1/Gord... ..rs.) heavy pitting from star causing partial loss of naming to rank and regiment, therefore good fine £600-700

2 officers and 32 other ranks of the 1st Gordon Highlanders served on the Nile in the Mounted Infantry Camel Regiment, of whom all but two privates fought at Abu Klea. 16 other ranks had 5-clasp medals with Abu Klea.

Charles Andrews was born at Lychett Minster, near Poole, Dorset, and enlisted for the 39th Brigade at Poole on 28 January 1881, aged 22 years 6 months. Posted to the 1st Battalion, Gordon Highlanders in July 1881, he served in Egypt from August to September 1882, and from January 1883 to September 1885. He was discharged on 27 January 1897. Sold with copy discharge papers which confirm medal and clasps.
