Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, 2 clasps, The Nile 1884-85, Abu Klea (2305 Pte. T. Curtis, 5th Lancers) pitting from star, otherwise very fine £500-600

4 officers and 43 other ranks of the 5th Lancers served in the Heavy Cavalry Regiment on the Nile, of whom 2 officers and 33 other ranks fought at Abu Klea.

Thomas Curtis was born at Southampton and enlisted there for the 5th Dragoon Guards on 15 January 1880, and transferred to the 5th Lancers on 1 March 1880. He was injured by kicks from horses at Newbridge in March 1881 and in April 1882. He was transferred to 1st Class Army Reserve in January 1888 and discharged on 14 January 1896. Sold with copy discharge papers.
