Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, dated reverse, 1 clasp, The Nile 1884-85 (1167 Pte. G. Benham, 1/Berks. R.) pitting from star, otherwise nearly very fine £140-180

Private Benham served on the Nile with 2/Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry.

George Benham was born at Alton, Hampshire, and enlisted into the 2/22nd Regiment on 17 August 1865. He transferred to the 49th Foot (No. 1167) in March 1869 and served with the Berkshires in Egypt in 1882. He served with the Military Foot Police from February 1883 to March 1884, when he transferred to 2/D.C.L.I. (No. 1255) for service on the Nile. He was finally discharged on 20 November 1886. Sold with copy discharge papers.
