Private Michael Melville served with the Royal Marine Battalion in Egypt at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir in 1882 and was one of 4 officers and 89 men of the Royal Marines at Abu Klea; of these, 9 men also had the clasp for Tel-el-Kebir.
