D.C.M. London Gazette 11 March 1920:

‘During the enemy offensives on the Somme in March 1918, at Ploegsteert in April 1918 and the Aisne in May 1918, he gave the greatest assistance in maintaining efficiency under the most difficult circumstances, and in addition to his own duties commanding a section in battle with great distinction.’

Mention in despatches London Gazette 22 June 1915.

John Clark, a native of Dumbarton, first entered the French theatre of war in early October 1914. Awarded his “mention” in respect of services in 20th Fortress Company, R.E., he added the D.C.M. to his accolades for the above cited deeds in 130th Field Company, R.E.
