D.C.M. London Gazette 3 June 1918:

‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He has constantly repaired telephone wires under heavy shell fire and has maintained battery communications under most difficult conditions. His example of gallant conduct under fire has been worthy of all praise.’

Frederick Burnaby, a native of Stockport, was also awarded his M.M. in respect of services in 136th Heavy Battery, R.G.A.

Sold with a handwritten copy of his D.C.M. citation, on parchment, with official R.G.A. Record Office stamp and dated 29 October 1918, together with an inter-war photograph of the recipient on his motorcycle, and copied
MIC entry confirming entitlement to only the British War & Victory Medals.
